When you consider the time and energy invested in holding down a student job or paying off your loans, architecture scholarships may start making a lot of sense. Architecture school can be incredibly rigorous. Five-plus years of intensive study and challenging projects traditionally do not leave you much time to hold down a part-time student job.

Once you graduate, you typically need to secure an internship and pass a licensing exam. So it might be some time before you can begin paying off student loans. Architecture scholarships (and the financial freedom they represent) are too important to leave to the last minute.
